About Dhamma Sukha
Dhamma Sukha Vipassana Center is a big step forward towards realizing Goenkaji’s vision of starting a Vipassana center that will cater to the San Antonio, Austin, and Houston areas.
32-acre land in the rural part of Central Texas is purchased to build a new Vipassana Center “Dhamma Sukha”. The property is centrally and conveniently located, about 1.5 hours from Houston 2 hours from Austin, and 2.5 hours from San Antonio, on 7819 Red Bird Road, New Ulm, TX 78950.
The scenic and secluded new acreage is a perfectly serene and quiet place for meditation.
A team of architects, engineers and reputed construction contractors is working to develop the Center in three phases.
The Master Plan of the design is available here:
- Large meditation hall that can accommodate 120 students
- Phase 1 construction completed:
- Two dorms with 20 rooms each with attached bathrooms
- Dining hall to accommodate 80-90 students
- Separate walking paths for male and female
- 2000 sq ft state-of-the-art home that will be used to house the teachers and servers during the course
- The Central Texas Vipassana Association (CTVA) trust committee has a phase development approach towards a center with the capacity to hold courses for up to 150 students.
The Central Texas Vipassana Meditation Center (Dhamma Sukha) has started conducting residential courses (adult 2- and 10-day) and children’s courses since June 2023 after the Phase I construction was completed.
